چکیده
The aim of this study was to compare the antimicrobial and antifungal activity of MTA Angelus, Biodentine and DiaRoot BioAggregate tricalcium silicate based retrograde filling materials with agar diffusion test (ADT) method. Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans standard bacterial strains were used. 100 μl was taken from liquid cultures of E. faecalis and planted in Mueller Hinton agar and the same amount of C. albicans was planted in sabouraud dextrose agar by means of spread plate technique. Then, MTA Angelus, Biodentine and DiaRoot BioAggregate cements were aseptically filled into the opened pits. Following this procedure, the media were kept in the drying oven at 37 °C for 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours and the diameters of the inhibition zones were measured. Within the limits of our study, retrograde filling materials MTA Angelus, Biodentine and DiaRoot BioAggregate exhibited antibacterial and antifungal effect.

In-vitro Sealing Ability of Calcium Enriched Mixture Cement Versus Amalgam as Retrograde Filling Materials
Introduction: Sealing ability of a retrograde filling material is an important factor for a successful endodontic apicoectomy. The purpose of this in-vitro study was to compare the sealing ability of calcium enriched mixture (CEM) cement versus amalgam as root-end filling materials. Methods: A total of 36 canals of extracted maxillary central incisors were instrumented and obturated using later...
متن کاملMineral trioxide aggregate: a comprehensive literature review--Part I: chemical, physical, and antibacterial properties.
INTRODUCTION An ideal orthograde or retrograde filling material should seal the pathways of communication between the root canal system and its surrounding tissues. It should also be nontoxic, noncarcinogenic, nongenotoxic, biocompatible, insoluble in tissue fluids, and dimensionally stable. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) was developed and recommended initially because existing root-end filli...
متن کاملBiological Evaluation of Heterocycle Moiety of Some Novel azoles Derivatives as Antibacterial and Antifungal potential Agents
Background & Objective: Azole nucleuses are very important part of antimicrobial, analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs. The azole class of compounds is the most popular among the antibacterial and antifungal classes because of its lower toxicity, higher efficacy and a broad spectrum of activity. Today, Efforts have focused on the development of new, less toxic and more efficacious antifungal a...
متن کاملApical adaptation, sealing ability and push-out bond strength of five root-end filling materials.
This study compared the fluid filtration, adaptation to the root canal walls, and the push-out bond strength of two resin-based sealers and three calcium silicate-based retrograde filling materials. Fifty maxillary canines were shaped using manual instruments and the apical portion was sectioned. Retrograde cavities of 3-mm depth were prepared. The specimens were divided into five groups (n = 1...
